I heart David Koma

The above statement is true.

For those that have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, David is the man behind Cheryl Cole's fashion faux pas on The X Factor, the duly dubbed "dustbin lid" dress. Fresh out of the so-hip-it's-not-true Central Saint Martins MA course, Koma hit the headlines when he scooped the 2009 Harrods Design Award. His heavily sculpted dresses with their loud beading and adventurous cut soon became the talk of the town and everyone was dying to get their hands on one - including a certain Mrs Cole. But oh despair when she waltzed on stage on Halloween night. The lass from Newcastle had paired our David's piece of art with thigh-high boots, a Croydon facelift and some questionable hoop earrings. My oh my.

Showing the world how to rock a Koma was Beyonce a week later at the MTV Europe awards, in a form-fitting version of Cheryl's dress. All eyes were on the Bootylicious songstress as she wowed the fashionistas with her sartorial sense. What did she have that poor Cheryl didn't? The body, the hair, the accessories?

Regardless, our David hit the headlines and is currently the toast of the fashion set. And he's a lovely boy to boot! Always with a friendly smile, absolutely no ego, and still sewing his creations with his own fair hand. He'd tuck them in and read them a bedtime story if that wasn't a bit weird. Kudos David. I love you.

No airs and graces. Aww, bless.
